Welcome to Paradise – An incredible stay in the Maldives

How can I possibly even start to describe the beauty and magic of somewhere so incredible? Since Malé, the capital of the Maldives, is only a short hop away from Dubai (around 3,5 hours) I decided it was high time we visited for a few days of rest, relaxation and ultimate tanning!

After a quick flight through the night we sped through immigration, picked up our bags and were already on our way to our home for the next few days, Meeru Island Resort & Spa. Already I could tell this was going to be amazing, even the water surrounding the airport was the brightest, most beautiful blue ever!

The speedboat to the island takes around 1 hour, and since myself and Joe had both just landed from flights the day before and gone straight to the airport without sleeping for our flight to the Maldives, we soon dozed off on the boat thanks to the gentle swaying.

Before long we were stepping out onto the jetty, and being greeted by drums as a welcome. We were already in love with the crystal clear waters and the purest white sand.

I actually booked the trip as a surprise birthday present for my boyfriend and I had booked us in to a standard villa, which was then very kindly upgraded to a Beach Jacuzzi Villa upon check-in. We were soon shown to our room and given a map of the island to help us get around, as it’s one of the larger islands in the Maldives (1200 metres x 350 metres!).

As well as the lovely four-poster bed, our room featured an outdoor bathroom, and of course the jacuzzi!

We couldn’t wait to explore, and after changing into our swim gear headed straight out of our door and on to the beach.

There are sun loungers all over the island, and you can use the ones on the beach closest to your villa, or head to the pools or other beaches to make the most of the beautiful natural surroundings.

We spent the rest of the afternoon chilling by the pool, dipping in and out of the water, reading, and making the most of the all-inclusive package by sampling a few cocktails!

In the evening you will witness the most incredible sunsets of your life, this is no exaggeration! I’ve honestly never seen such a beautiful sky with colours ranging from every shade of pink to purple you can even imagine. We spent our evenings just gazing out to sea watching the sunset…there’s a reason they say the Maldives is one of the most romantic places in the world!

Isn’t that just the most beautiful sky ever? I took so many pictures on this trip that I’ve decided to split this post up into two, and spread them out a bit. I hope you’ll enjoy a glimpse into our holiday in the Maldives!
