February Roster

Despite February being a short month, the roster gods have somehow managed to squeeze in all of the flights I asked for! It’s my “second top” bid, which means I have the second highest chance of getting what I request. Somehow I actually did!

It feels like it’s been such a long time since I got all of my bids that I actually can’t quite believe it. So next month I’ll be heading off to:

  • CPT – Cape Town, South Africa
  • BOM – Bombay, India (Turnaround)
  • ZRH – Zurich, Switzerland
  • ARN – Stockholm, Sweden
  • ZAG – Zagreb, Croatia
  • Service Refresher
  • ZAG – Zagreb, Croatia
  • ZRH – Zurich, Switzerland

An exciting month ahead with 2 new destinations for me, Zagreb (which I’ll be visiting twice!) and Stockholm. I would love to hear any tips or interesting things to see or do in both places!

I haven’t been to Cape Town in a while, and as busy as the flight usually is, I know it’ll be worth it for the stunning destination. I’m hoping to hike up Lion’s Head or perhaps even Table Mountain – anybody have any suggestions?

As for Zurich, I’m sure you guys have seen that pop u on my roster fairly often. It’s an easy flight in first class, and a chance for me to relax and eat some good food!

The service refresher is something new that has only been going on for a couple of months, and should be a good way to refresh my knowledge on everything regarding our onboard service.

P.s. Follow me on Instagram, Facebook & Twitter for more day-to-day updates of where I am in the world! 🙂

Hi Rachel. Hope you enjoy the beautiful city of CT but just to let you know the water crisis is indeed very bad.

Hi Dee! Thanks for reading, I had a great layover in Cape Town although far too short! I took plenty of large bottles of water with me from Dubai so avoided using any water at all other than a quick shower. Hopefully things will start getting better soon if they can open a desalination plant.

I’m cabin crew based in Johannesburg. The water crisis is not bad in the part of town (western cape) where you layover. We layover in the same hotel as Emirates in CPT. Go to the Red bus tour website and book yourself the premium package, for a 2 day tour, unless you’ll be staying for more days you can book for 3 days to hike up table mountain the whole day. The hotel shuttle will take you for free to where you’ll catch it. You’ll just take a walk through the mall to the aquarium. Your bus is called “the blue bus”. Its a bus you can hop on and off and catch the next one. It goes to the wine estates, table mountain, sea point, a free sunset cruise and many other places. You’ll thank yourself for taking this tour!

Thanks so much for the tips! I’ve actually done the red bus tour (hop-on hop-off) in the past which was great! Sadly we only have 24 hours there but a free sunset cruise and the wine estates do sound very tempting! I might try and get up in time for a sunrise hike if any of the other crew are also up for it!

Yay! Stockholm! I work as cabin crew in Sweden, I’ve read your blog for a few years. I’m happy you’ll get to see Stockholm! Where in the city will you stay? I’d recommend you to see the old town and talk a walk from “slussen”, through the old town and to “kungsträdgården”, if it’s not to cold I would recommend you to walk to “djurgarden” through “strandvagen”. It’s absolutely lovely to walk through the city when it’s sunny and snowy. It’s so beautiful. And we have a lot of nice restaurants. For breakfast and brunch I would recommend the restaurant “N38” at nybrovagen 38 or “Pom&flora” at Odengatan.

    Enjoy Stockholm!

I love Zagreb! My favourite places are Maksimir park and city center. I like The Zagreb Funicular which connects the Ilica Street with Strossmayerovo Promenade. I also recommend Vincek Pastry Shop, also in center. Zrinjevac park is also very beautiful. As I remember, this is all quite close and like Mislav said, it’s great for walking if the weather is nice. Enjoy exploring new destinations!

Stockholm is a gorgeous city! You should definitely have a walk around the Old Town (Gamla Stan). Don’t miss out on Swedish pastries- cinnamon buns or cardamom buns are a good bet and classic Lenten buns will be available in February. Depending on how much time you have, Stockholm is also full of amazing museums for lots of different interests. Some favorites are the outdoor museum Skansen (if you’re up for a stroll and the weather is good) and City Hall (tours hourly). As long as you’re dressed warmly you really can’t go wrong just walking around- I never get tired of visiting. Enjoy yourself!

Yaay Zagreb – my hometown! Idk what hotel you guys stay in, if you’d like I can send you an e-mail with directions from it to the old town etc. Zagreb is amazing because it’s great for walking, it’s best to see the old town that way 🙂 i hope weather will be good, its one of the warmest winters we had so far
When I find time more time I’ll write you more specific things to see

    Hi Rachel,

That looks like a great roster 🙂 I’m heading to Cape Town in March, so looking forward to hearing about your next trip there, your past blogs on it were great.

Did you hear about the water crisis in CT? I’m a little worried, as ‘Day Zero’ is soon after I leave, and it’s been creeping forward. I can’t believe a modern city could actually run out of water entirely…

Hi Georgia! Thanks, I’m really happy with it for once! Can’t wait for my trip to Cape Town, I’m hoping to hike up Lion’s Head or Table Mountain 🙂 I’ve heard a lot about the water crisis although according to a lot of the South African pilots it’s not as bad as it sounds and actually happens every year….so we will see!
