An Afternoon in Windsor with Pixter

I’ve just got back from another trip to London Heathrow, and decided it was time to explore a part of the UK I’ve not visited before. Since our crew hotel is just by Heathrow Airport, it’s only around a 20 minute drive to Windsor, so myself and 2 other crew, Ananda from Brazil & Alex from Italy, got in an Uber and made our way there.

Unfortunately Windsor Castle was closed for visitors by the time we arrived, as last entry is at 4pm, so if I get an earlier flight to London I’ll try and go back so I can visit the inside as well. I hadn’t actually done much research about what to see or do in Windsor other than the castle, so we pretty much decided to just stroll wherever we fancied!

Windsor Castle is actually a royal residence and functioning royal home, and is owned by the Queen – she also uses it as a weekend home as well as for state banquets and official entertaining. The original castle was built in the 11th century and is the longest-occupied palace in Europe.

July Roster

Once again it’s time for another roster post. I finally finished my reserve month and if you were following along on Instagram you might have seen which flights I got – Milan, London Heathrow, Jeddah, Hong Kong, Casablanca, and finally a Chennai turnaround.

There’s not been too much to blog about as I didn’t do much worthy of pictures, so I don’t have too much to tell! In Milan I headed back to the same restaurant that I went to the week before, and in London I popped into town to do a bit of shopping and pick up some groceries.

London was fairly uneventful until the way back, where we had some problems with the aircraft just as we were about to take off, so had to taxi back to stand, hang around onboard for a while, and finally ended up sending all our passengers on another flight and deadheading back to Dubai! In case you’re not familiar with the term, deadheading just means when you travel as a passenger instead of working the flight!

Souk wandering in Casablanca, Morocco

Whilst still on reserve I was pulled out for a trip to Casablanca, Morocco. I’ve been in the past and visited the incredible Hassan II Mosque, the largest mosque in Morocco, as well as the corniche by the ocean, and Rick’s Café, famous from the movie “Casablanca”. This time I decided to take it easy and just head for a stroll through the souk.

From my hotel room I had an incredible view over the city, including the Hassan II Mosque which is unmissable.

If you’re heading to Casablanca for the first time, I’d definitely recommend a trip there. The architecture is stunning, with lots of detailed tiling and doorways.

Myself and one of the other girls met after a quick power nap (I’d be on home standby waiting for the phone to ring all night, and then had an almost 8 hour flight, so was feeling rather tired!) to stroll down to the nearby souk.

June Roster

It seems like I only just pressed publish on my May roster, but here we are again with another roster post!

I’m currently on reserve, as mentioned in my May roster post, and so far I’ve been given a flight to Milan and a flight to London, as well as a quick overnight turnaround to Jeddah and back. I’ve still got quite a way to go so stay tuned on here and my Instagram, where I post more day-to-day updates, to see where else I end up this month!

I’ll be finishing my reserve around the 11th of June, and after that I’ll be heading to:

  • NBO – Nairobi, Kenya (turnaround)
  • LNE – HRE – Lusaka, Zambia & Harare, Zimbabwe
  • LHR – London Heathrow, UK
  • BCN – Barcelona, Spain

After my turnaround to Nairobi I have a string of 5 days off, so hope to head on a mini getaway somewhere warm with my girlfriends!

The LNE – HRE trip is one I haven’t done before. We fly to Lusaka, have a quick stop on ground, then on to Harare where we have a 24 hour layover. So if you have any tips or suggestions for what to do and see in 24 hours in Harare, please let me know.

Then it’s on to London, and after that one of my favourites, Barcelona, where I hope to top up my tan on the beach! In the meantime, let’s hope for some nice flights on my reserve 🙂

P.s. Follow me on Instagram, Facebook & Twitter for more day-to-day updates of where I am in the world! 🙂

An Afternoon in Florence

When I saw that I had two days off that coincided perfectly with my boyfriend’s flight to Bologna, I knew I had to escape the heat of Dubai and come with him on the flight. I booked my ticket less than 2 hours before departure, packed a few things and headed off to the airport. Talk about last minute decisions!

The flight is around 6 hours, and I was well taken care of by the crew, so arrived into Bologna ready to do some exploring.

Since Joe was working the flight, we went to the crew hotel which was a short drive from the airport. From there it was a quick bus journey to the main train station where we purchased our tickets (which I have to say were fairly pricey!) to Florence. It’s a quick 34 minute train ride, if you take the express train with no stops.

Before we knew it, we were stepping out into the beautiful sunny streets of Firenze!
