November Roster

The second last roster of the year is already here! I’m sure I say it in every post but I just can’t quite believe how quickly this year has sped by.

I have so many posts to catch up on – mainly from my incredible holiday to the Dominican Republic with Lizzie, my sister, but I promise I will get round to posting them eventually.

As you may know, I started my new role as Cabin Supervisor in October. It’s been a big change and a new challenge for me but so far I’ve been thoroughly enjoying it!

Rather annoyingly I got barotrauma and was signed off for a week by the doctor, so missed out on one of my flights home. Of course, health comes first and there’s nothing worse than flying with blocked ears.

As for next month, I got quite a few of my bids (as well as some not-so-desirable turnarounds thrown in there!) so I’m quite happy with my roster. I’ll be jetting off to:

  • ZRH – Zurich, Switzerland
  • ZRH – Zurich, Switzerland
  • MRU – Mauritius
  • STN – London Stansted, UK
  • IST – Istanbul, Turkey (Turnaround)
  • IST – Istanbul, Turkey (Turnaround)
  • STN – London Stansted, UK

Starting off with two trips to Zurich, Switzerland. By this time Autumn will be in full swing and I’m looking forward to some crisp cold weather and perhaps a delicious cheese fondue!

In between the two flights I have a few days off and my cousin Sarah is coming to stay with me in Dubai, so it’ll be round two of tourist duties, after my brother and his girlfriend came in September. We’re having a little staycation for one night in a hotel though so I can’t wait!

After that is Mauritius – a destination I haven’t been to in quite a while! I can’t wait – we stay at a lovely resort right on the beach and I plan to fully maximise my relaxation time.

Following on from my mini holiday in the sun, I have a flight to Stansted, home! Sadly the layover has been reduced from 30 hours to 24 hours (due to the launch of the second daily flight in summer) but it’s still great that I get paid to fly home and spend time with my family.

Next up – two turnarounds to Istanbul! I’ll be honest, not my favourite flight, as it’s a very long day (4,5 hours flight time each way) and quite tiring. I actually had Beirut (also a turnaround) instead of the second Istanbul, but just got a roster change.

Last up is another Stansted layover. Some of my siblings should be at home at the same time which will be lovely.

Before we know it it’ll be time for the December roster, Christmas, New Year’s, and then 2020!

October Roster

Roster time has come round once again, and October is my “top bid”! This means I have the highest likelihood of getting the flights that I ask for, and I have to say I’m quite pleased with how many I’ve got.

It’s not a top bid month without a couple of turnarounds though – let’s see if there are any willing takers for them, although I’m not overly optimistic!

Next month I’ll be flying to:

  • MAA – Chennai, India (turnaround)
  • STN – London Stansted, UK
  • ZAG – Zagreb, Croatia
  • Leave
  • MRU – Mauritius
  • DEL – Delhi, India (turnaround)
  • SEA – Seattle, US

First up is a quick trip to Chennai and back. Sadly it’s a turnaround; I would actually love to explore a bit more of India, as so far I’ve only been to Cochin.

Then I have another flight home to Stansted, on my birthday! I’m hoping mum will make me a delicious birthday cake 😉

After that is Zagreb, which I last visited in winter. I’m hoping that it won’t be freezing yet, and perhaps I’ll be able to go to one of the beautiful national parks or lakes, although I know they are quite a drive from the city.

Following my trip to Zagreb, I have 8 days leave! I’ll be heading off to Australia with my sister Lizzie, to visit our grandparents.

It won’t be to difficult coming back from leave, as I then have a layover in sunny Mauritius, where we stay at a great beach resort. I can’t wait!

Up next is another quick turnaround to Delhi and back, before my last flight of the month, Seattle! I’m expecting everywhere to be fully decked out for Halloween and look forward to visiting this lovely city for the third time.

Mauritius: An Island Escape

When I think of a holiday in paradise, Mauritius is one of the places that always springs to mind. Since we celebrated Christmas at home with my family last year, it was time to head to Mauritius this year, and Joe very kindly invited my parents to join us and his family for a relaxing getaway in the sun.

We touched down after a 6-hour flight through the night, having not managed to sleep much. I certainly couldn’t complain about these views though, even if I’m not a fan of being trapped in the window seat!

December Roster

I can’t believe we’re already on to the last roster of 2017! Where has this year gone?!

Although I actually only got one flight that I bid for in December, I’m not too disappointed with my roster. I managed to get on the swap page and get a London instead of Perth to do my Christmas shopping which is perfect!

I’m finishing up November with my trip to Taipei, and then I’ll be heading to:

  • PER – Perth, Australia – swapped for: LGW – London Gatwick, UK
  • SEP – Safety and Emergency Procedures, our yearly exams!
  • JFK – New York, USA
  • AMM – Amman, Jordan (turnaround)
  • HKG – Hong Kong
  • Leave
  • AMS – Amsterdam, Netherlands

Fortunately I’ll be back to working in first class next month, I have to say I’ve really missed it – business class just isn’t the same! 😀

As I mentioned above I’ve swapped the Perth for a London, so I’ll try and get some Christmas shopping done there, as well as a trip to the supermarket for all of my essentials.

After that I’ve got my yearly exams, which are always great fun…not! 😉

Then it’s off to New York, which is the only flight I got that I bid for, so I’m looking forward to seeing all of the Christmas lights and perhaps even going ice skating in Central Park.

Next up is a quick turnaround to Amman and back, before a flight to Hong Kong, which I didn’t actually bid for but do love. I’ll be getting my fix of dumplings from Din Tai Fung!

I’m lucky enough to have leave for Christmas the second year in a row, and we’ll be heading to Mauritius for some sunshine this year – let’s hope the flights aren’t too full!

My last flight of the year is to Amsterdam – I haven’t been there for quite a while so if anybody has any good wintery suggestions I’ll be more than happy to hear them.

Turning 25 in Mauritius

On the day of my birthday, I was whisked away to a beautiful hotel in the lovely seaside town of Flic-en-Flac, in the Black River region. We checked in around lunch time, and were greeted with a deliciously refreshing coconut and mint mocktail.

The weather was perfect, beautiful sunshine and a lovely temperature. I couldn’t wait to get on the beach!
