February Roster

Another month, another roster! January is already flying by, and it’s been a fairly uneventful month so far. I did say I would try to make the most of my layovers, but most of them have been spent alternating between sleeping, working out and drinking lots of coffee!

Let’s see where next month will take me:

  • STN – London Stansted, UK
  • VIE – Vienna, Austria
  • BHX – Birmingham, UK
  • KHI – Karachi, Pakistan (turnaround)
  • FRA – Frankfurt, Germany
  • MLE – Male, Maldives (turnaround)
  • RUH – Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (turnaround)
  • KUL – Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
  • BP – Business Promotion

First up is a trip home, which I’m very happy about! The only one of my bids that I got, and although I would have loved 2 Stansteds, I’m still grateful I get to go home and see my parents.

Following on from that is a flight to Vienna – I did bid for this in December to go and see the Christmas markets, but perhaps this time there will be some snow.

Straight after is Birmingham, which I’ve only visited once. I have been to Stratford-upon-Avon which is nearby; a beautiful quaint English town which happens to be the birthplace of Shakespeare! Highly recommended for a day trip.

Next up will be a turnaround to Karachi and back. I haven’t done this flight in a while as it is two-class, i.e. no first class, so I wasn’t rostered it while I was working in first class.

Then I have a flight to Frankfurt, which I have visited plenty of times in the past. I’m not sure what I’ll do there, as I expect it’ll be pretty chilly!

I’ve then been rostered two more turnarounds, to Male and Riyadh. Male is one of the longest turnarounds we have and it’s a pretty tiring one, as you fly through the night. The pilots also get to stay in the Maldives for 24 hours while we just go there and back!

My last flight of February will be to Kuala Lumpur. I was actually rostered this flight in January as well, however swapped it for a quick trip to Milan. So I’m hoping for a nice flight to KL next month with some delicious street food! Someone has sent me a swap for Phnom Penh – which one would you take?

Lastly is a business promotion event – I haven’t done one of these since I started the cabin supervisor pool, so I’m very excited! I should find out soon which event I’ll be representing the company at.

So even though February is the shortest month of the year, somehow I have a very busy roster with 8 flights and a BP event! Let’s hope it’s a good one 🙂

October Roster

My first roster as a cabin supervisor! Having now completed my training (just over 2 weeks) I’ll be starting out from next month working as a CSV. It’ll certainly be a different experience from first class but I’m very much looking forward to the change.

Luckily my month will be very nice to ease into, as I’m starting off with some annual leave. As for the rest, this is where I’ll be off to in October:

  • Annual Leave
  • HKG – Hong Kong
  • IKA – Tehran, Iran
  • ZRH – Zurich, Switzerland
  • MEL – Melbourne, Australia
  • STN – London Stansted, UK
  • STN – London Stansted, UK

For my leave, my sister and I are heading to the Dominican Republic! We’ll be spending a few days exploring Santo Domingo, and then a bit of time relaxing by the beach in Punta Cana. Anything we must see or do, please comment down below!

My first flight operating as CSV will be to Hong Kong! One of my favourite destinations, and somehow ironic that this was also my very first flight with Emirates way back almost 7 years ago when I started flying. Only this time around, I’ll be the one in charge! I’m looking forward to catching up with my friend Kirsty once I’m there, and seeing her two little ones.

Next up is a quick turnaround to Tehran and back. This will be another new challenge as I’ll most likely be working in economy, and the service will have to be done quite quickly due to the length of the flight.

Then I’ve got a lovely layover in Zurich, another great destination. I’m already looking forward to some cheese fondue!

Following on from that is my ULR (ultra long range) flight for the month – Melbourne, Australia. I actually bid for Sydney to try and see my grandparents, but got Melbourne instead! Nevertheless I’ll be keeping this flight as my cousin lives there and I can’t wait to have a good catch up with her.

Lastly I have two trips which I’m very much looking forward to – home! A lovely way to round off the month, two back-to-back flights to Stansted. I’m hoping by then I’ll somehow know what I’m doing as CSV and will be able to relax at home with Mum and Dad!

June Roster

It’s time for another roster post over here on The Dubai Diaries! It feels like I live my life waiting for the roster each month, and then when I get it, thinking about what to bid for for next month’s roster!

In June I’ll be visiting a few old favourites, here’s my line-up for the upcoming month:

  • DFW – Dallas Fort Worth, USA
  • STN – London Stansted, UK
  • PRG – Prague, Czech Republic
  • Leave
  • HKG – Hong Kong
  • FCO – Rome, Italy

Back to Dallas – it’s only been a few months since my last two visits to Texas, but I’ll be heading back again. Since I went to a rodeo in Fort Worth last time, I’m not sure what I’ll do here.

Then is another flight to Stansted to see my family, and the sweetest little kittens that are now living with my parents!

After that I have Prague, which I don’t think I’ve visited since last summer. Originally I was rostered Lisbon, which I do love (and am a little bit sad about getting rid of!) but I swapped it, so that I’ll hopefully be able to travel home on an earlier flight for mum’s birthday.

Next up is a week of leave, as mentioned I’ll try and fly home for a bit – let’s hope the flights are not too full!

Straight after my leave I have a flight to Hong Kong. you guys will know that HKG is one of my favourite destinations. Funnily enough I didn’t actually bid for it this time around, and I got two! Sadly my friend Kirsty who lives there will be back in the UK this time.

My last flight of the month is to Rome, a place I haven’t visited for quite a while! This was originally another Hong Kong, but I decided to swap it as I won’t be able to see Kirsty anyway, and I love Europe in summer.

And just like that, that brings us to the end of June! Hope you enjoyed seeing where I’ll be flying 🙂

May Roster

This month has just flown by, and we are already approaching summer! I’m at the top of the bidding group next month, but sadly didn’t actually get much that I asked for.

Nevertheless, I still have a few flights that I’m looking forward to. In May I’ll be flying to:

  • MLE – Male, Maldives (turnaround)
  • JFK – New York, USA
  • IKA – Tehran, Iran (turnaround)
  • CMB – Colombo, Sri Lanka
  • BP – Business Promotion Event
  • STN – London Stansted, UK
  • MUC – Munich, Germany

Starting off with a long turnaround to Male – not a very sought after flight as sadly we don’t get to stay in the Maldives!

Up next is a trip to New York, which I’m very much looking forward to as I haven’t been since Christmas 2017! Hopefully the weather will be much warmer by May as well.

After that is another turnaround, this one to Tehran and back, which is fairly short, around 2 hours each way.

Then it’s on to Colombo – I have been to Sri Lanka on holiday a couple of times, but never actually operated the flight!

Following on from that is a business promotion event, which I’m still waiting to hear details about. It’s always nice to do something a bit different – my last event was the Saudi Airshow in Riyadh!

Up next, the only trip I got that was one of my bids, a 54 hour layover in Stansted! Due to the current runway closure in DXB, some of our flights have reduced frequency, which means a longer layover for me at home, yay!

Finally I have another longer layover, 48 hours in Munich. I have been to Munich around 20 times now so hopefully I’ll be able to explore somewhere nearby as I have a bit more time than usual on this trip.

That’s it for next month! 🙂

September Roster

Once again I’m back with another roster post, this time for the month of September.

While I didn’t get everything I asked for, I do have a new destination to tick off the list, as well as a couple of old favourites.

In September I’ll be heading off to:

  • BKK – SYD – Bangkok, Thailand & Sydney, Australia
  • STN – London Stansted, UK
  • STN – London Stansted, UK
  • IKA – Tehran, Iran (turnaround)
  • BKK – Bangkok, Thailand
  • ADL – Adelaide, Australia

I’ll be starting off the month with another multi-sector trip, to Bangkok and Sydney. I’ve just got back from my Sydney Christchurch trip, so I need a few days off to recover before another week away!

I have to admit I did bid for Bangkok (albeit as my lowest bid) though I kind of forgot this trip existed, so wasn’t really expecting to get another multi-sector! As always I’m happy to go though – for my fix of Pad Thai, mango sticky rice, and an excellent Thai massage.

After that I have two trips home, to Stansted, which of course I’m very happy about! I’m hoping the brilliant summer weather England has had over the past couple of months will hang in there for a few more weeks, and we will be able to play some tennis and eat dinner in the garden.

Next up will be a quick turnaround to Tehran and back, followed by another flight to Bangkok. Perhaps I will see if I can swap these two for something else, but if not it’s no big deal.

Lastly is my new destination for the month – Adelaide! This will mean I’ll have ticked off all of the Emirates destinations in Australia. As it will be my first time there, any tips or beautiful places to see are much appreciated!
