New York Is Always A Good Idea

It feels like I only just blogged about New York, and yet here I found myself once again. This time around my friends were on holiday so I decided to take it easy on this layover and just do whatever I felt up to after the 14 hour flight!

Last time I walked over 15km around the city, so I gave my feet a bit more of a break! Our crew hotel is just around the corner from Times Square, so after a good freshen up one of the other girls from first class and I headed out to get a bit of sun, a drink and a bite to eat.

Three Days in Georgia – A Day Trip to the Mountains

After our first day exploring Tbilisi, Emma and I were ready to see a bit more of Georgia! We booked onto a tour which would take us to see the Kazbegi mountains, the Ananuri Fortress, Zhinvali Dam and Reservoir, and Gudauri to see the Russia-Georgia friendship monument high up in the mountains.

After fuelling up with an incredible breakfast at our hotel, we walked into the old town to our meeting point.

Although we booked onto a group tour, it was only the two of us and a Ukrainian couple, along with our guide Misha.

July Roster

Halfway through the year already! Sorry it’s been a bit quiet over here on The Dubai Diaries…I’ve been busy studying for my interview and assessment for cabin supervisor and am very excited to share that I was successful!

Depending on space and availability I will be rostered my training for cabin supervisor soon, which means I’ll be moving back out of first class to be in charge of the economy or business class cabin. It will certainly be a change, but I’m so excited for a new challenge!

As for next month, I’ll be jetting off to:

  • KWI – Kuwait (turnaround)
  • RUH – Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (turnaround)
  • HAM – Hamburg, Germany
  • JFK – New York, USA
  • FRA – Frankfurt, Germany
  • MLE – CMB – Male, Maldives – Colombo, Sri Lanka
  • HYD – Hyderabad, India (turnaround)
  • BP – Business Promotion
  • BKK – PNH – Bangkok, Thailand – Phnom Penh, Cambodia

Starting off with a couple of quick turnarounds to Kuwait and Riyadh. Although nobody particularly loves a turnaround, both of these are during the day, so no working through the night and they’re both pretty quick.

Up next is Hamburg, a destination I haven’t visited in a while. I have an old school friend who lives there, so hopefully he’s free to catch up!

After that is another JFK. I’m always happy to go back to New York, and even though I was only there last month I’m sure I will be able to find something new to do! I’m thinking of going to see a musical, so if anyone has any suggestions, just let me know in the comments below.

Following on from New York is a flight to Frankfurt. I’ve actually just got back from there – I was supposed to be going to Hong Kong but sadly there was an aircraft change so I was removed from that flight and given Frankfurt instead.

Up next, a trip to Colombo, with a short stopover in the Maldives. Sadly we don’t get to stay there, but I’m quite looking forward to going to Colombo, as it’s been years since I’ve visited Sri Lanka!

After that is another turnaround (my third of the month!) to Hyderabad and back. And then I have an exciting business promotions trip – to the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Hockenheim, Germany! I’ll be there for a few days representing the company which should be a great trip.

For my final trip of the month, I have a new destination. Very exciting, as I always love ticking off new places, and this is somewhere that we haven’t been flying to for very long – Phnom Penh, Cambodia! The flight has a quick stop in Bangkok, and then a 24 hour layover in Cambodia. I’m very open to all of your suggestions and must-visits for my short time there!

So that’s it for my upcoming month. I will get back to writing on here more regularly, as I still have quite a few trips to post about, and I’m sure I will have some more to come this month!

June Roster

It’s time for another roster post over here on The Dubai Diaries! It feels like I live my life waiting for the roster each month, and then when I get it, thinking about what to bid for for next month’s roster!

In June I’ll be visiting a few old favourites, here’s my line-up for the upcoming month:

  • DFW – Dallas Fort Worth, USA
  • STN – London Stansted, UK
  • PRG – Prague, Czech Republic
  • Leave
  • HKG – Hong Kong
  • FCO – Rome, Italy

Back to Dallas – it’s only been a few months since my last two visits to Texas, but I’ll be heading back again. Since I went to a rodeo in Fort Worth last time, I’m not sure what I’ll do here.

Then is another flight to Stansted to see my family, and the sweetest little kittens that are now living with my parents!

After that I have Prague, which I don’t think I’ve visited since last summer. Originally I was rostered Lisbon, which I do love (and am a little bit sad about getting rid of!) but I swapped it, so that I’ll hopefully be able to travel home on an earlier flight for mum’s birthday.

Next up is a week of leave, as mentioned I’ll try and fly home for a bit – let’s hope the flights are not too full!

Straight after my leave I have a flight to Hong Kong. you guys will know that HKG is one of my favourite destinations. Funnily enough I didn’t actually bid for it this time around, and I got two! Sadly my friend Kirsty who lives there will be back in the UK this time.

My last flight of the month is to Rome, a place I haven’t visited for quite a while! This was originally another Hong Kong, but I decided to swap it as I won’t be able to see Kirsty anyway, and I love Europe in summer.

And just like that, that brings us to the end of June! Hope you enjoyed seeing where I’ll be flying 🙂

Chocolate Tasting in Bruges, Belgium

Last month I was lucky enough to have a 2 day layover in Brussels, Belgium. Although it wasn’t my first time visiting, I was happy to be going back and doing some more exploring.

I had already decided that on the full day I would go to Bruges, and luckily 5 of the other crew were also up for the trip!

It’s an easy train journey from Brussels main station, and after an hour we arrived in Bruges (or Brugge, depending on whether you speak French or Dutch!).

From the train station we wandered into town, strolling through pretty tree-lined streets admiring the buildings.
