February Roster

It’s that time of the month again…it seems the first month of 2016 has flown by and I’ve already got my roster for February.

I’m still on reserve at the moment, and I’ve already had a turnaround to Bombay, a trip to Madrid (including lots of tapas!) and a 6 day trip to Melbourne and Auckland. I hope you enjoyed the pictures from that trip, where I explored a lovely little town called Devonport, just a 10 minute ferry ride away from Auckland.

My reserve continues until the 10th of February, and after that I’ll be heading to:

  • SFO (San Fransisco)
  • Leave (my best fried Lucy is coming to visit!)
  • BOM (Bombay turnaround)
  • DUS (Dusseldorf)

I’ve actually never been to Dusseldorf before, so that’ll be another magnet to add to the collection! I’m trying to swap my San Fran for something else at the moment (a Sydney would be nice, so I could go and see my grandparents) but we’ll see where I end up.

Don’t forget you can follow me on instagram, where I post more frequently. That way you’ll know which trips I end up getting on my reserve month!

    Hi, Rachel,
It’s really nice to read your blog. very inspiring!
Since I’m joining Emirates soon, May i ask about the average flying hours of your roster every month? I am a little worried about i might not earn enough for my finance issues.
    Thanks a lot ahead!

Hi Sandra, thanks so much for reading! On average we fly around 80-100 hours a month (probably closer to 100 most months) so I would say the salary is definitely sufficient. Especially since you have your apartment and bills taken care of, I find it quite easy to save money here. Let me know if you have any other questions! 🙂

Hi rachel! Been a follower of your blog and find it very interesting. My son is a cabin crew in one of the Airline in Asia. Jst curious and maybe you can be of help since he is dying to be with Emirates. Can you please advise me his chance with said Airline? I understand they stop hiring male applicants. How about a number of tips for him to pass the open day and to be a successful cabin crew of Emirates. Thank you so much and look forward to hearing from you soonest. Take care and regards!

and second question: how many percent of the crew are male? and female pilots. your guess as there is probably no statistics available 😀

Hi there! Yes I’ve flown with a couple but it’s not very common. Unfortunately I’m not sure the percentage of male crew, maybe 30%…that’s a rough guess! As for female pilots, we don’t have very many.
