An Afternoon in Helsinki

After our amazing few days in Rovaniemi, Lapland, it was time to explore a little bit more of Finland. We flew down to Helsinki, where Dad left us to go back to work, and Mum and I caught the train into the city centre.

It takes around 30 minutes to get into Helsinki from the airport, and we could see the huge snowflakes falling as we sped along the tracks.

Once we arrived, it was just a short walk to our hotel, but with so much fresh snow that hadn’t been cleared yet, it was quite a challenge dragging our suitcases along!

Snowy Days in Lapland

I’ve just got back from an amazing trip to snowy Lapland with my parents. I had some leave in January and with no plans in place, decided it was time to tick a new country off the list!

I flew from Dubai with Finnair (on standby), leaving at 6am and landing into Helsinki at just after 10am. Since I was only travelling with hand luggage, it was an easy connection to the next gate, where my parents, who had flown in from Heathrow the night before, were already waiting.

Soon we were on our way to Rovaniemi, which was around an hour by plane.

As you can see, it was pretty snowy!

February Roster

Despite February being a short month, the roster gods have somehow managed to squeeze in all of the flights I asked for! It’s my “second top” bid, which means I have the second highest chance of getting what I request. Somehow I actually did!

It feels like it’s been such a long time since I got all of my bids that I actually can’t quite believe it. So next month I’ll be heading off to:

  • CPT – Cape Town, South Africa
  • BOM – Bombay, India (Turnaround)
  • ZRH – Zurich, Switzerland
  • ARN – Stockholm, Sweden
  • ZAG – Zagreb, Croatia
  • Service Refresher
  • ZAG – Zagreb, Croatia
  • ZRH – Zurich, Switzerland

An exciting month ahead with 2 new destinations for me, Zagreb (which I’ll be visiting twice!) and Stockholm. I would love to hear any tips or interesting things to see or do in both places!

I haven’t been to Cape Town in a while, and as busy as the flight usually is, I know it’ll be worth it for the stunning destination. I’m hoping to hike up Lion’s Head or perhaps even Table Mountain – anybody have any suggestions?

As for Zurich, I’m sure you guys have seen that pop u on my roster fairly often. It’s an easy flight in first class, and a chance for me to relax and eat some good food!

The service refresher is something new that has only been going on for a couple of months, and should be a good way to refresh my knowledge on everything regarding our onboard service.

P.s. Follow me on Instagram, Facebook & Twitter for more day-to-day updates of where I am in the world! 🙂

40 Questions: Cabin Crew

I saw this 40-question cabin crew post going around on some blogs I followed years ago, when I was still reading up about how to pass the interview! Now I’d love to think my blog helps out anyone who’s looking for some tips on the recruitment 🙂

Good news for anyone who’s looking to join the company – recruitment will be starting again soon! We don’t have any more specific information or dates, but keep an eye out online. In the meantime, enjoy a few questions and answers from me.

1.Which airline is lucky enough to employ you?

Emirates

2.What city(ies) are you based in?

Dubai, UAE – the only base we have.

Mauritius: An Island Escape

When I think of a holiday in paradise, Mauritius is one of the places that always springs to mind. Since we celebrated Christmas at home with my family last year, it was time to head to Mauritius this year, and Joe very kindly invited my parents to join us and his family for a relaxing getaway in the sun.

We touched down after a 6-hour flight through the night, having not managed to sleep much. I certainly couldn’t complain about these views though, even if I’m not a fan of being trapped in the window seat!
