Roaming around Rome

My next flight after my trip to LGW and Brighton was a flight to Rome. It’d been almost exactly a year since the last time I flew to Rome, so I was very much looking forward to going back to the Italian capital!

After arriving and checking in to our hotel, we caught the hotel’s shuttle bus into the city.

The bus drops you off just a couple of minutes walk from the Altare della Patria, which is also known as the Monumento Nazionale a Vittorio Emanuele II. It’s a monument built in honour of Victor Emmanuel, the first king of a united Italy, and is a very impressive building!

Ciao Venezia!

Last month I was lucky enough to be rostered a flight to Venice. It’s been years since I’ve been there, and it just so happened it was on Mum’s birthday!

So we decided to try and have a little family get-together in celebration, and other than my brother Harry we all made it! Mum & Dad got the train down from Austria, my brother Matthew flew in from Munich, and my sister Lizzie and her boyfriend Jarett flew in from England, where they are currently living.

The flight was busy but nice and short, and straight after arriving at the hotel I got the shuttle bus to the city to meet the family.

I’d checked the weather forecast the night before whilst packing my bag, however it didn’t turn out to be quite the sunny day that I’d expected…. thunderstorms and pouring rain all day!

Luckily we all had plenty to catch up on and sat drinking thick Italian hot chocolate until the rain subsided a little.

June Roster

I thought I’d just pop up a quick post with my roster for June in case anyone is interested in where I’ll be flying to next month! 🙂

I’m ending this month with a nice week of leave, which carries on into the beginning of June. I’m currently at home in Austria for a few days, and then I’m going to go to Oman with my flatmate Kirsty, one of her last trips before she leaves Dubai!

After that I’ll be going to:

  • Dhaka, Bangladesh (turnaround – 5 hours each way!)
  • Frankfurt
  • Venice
  • Chennai, India (turnaround)
  • Hyderabad, India (turnaround)
  • Munich
  • Hong Kong

As you can see I’m back on the 777 this month, for all of my flights except Munich, which is on the A380.

I wonder how many months in a row I’ve been rostered Munich now?!

I’m looking forward to going to Venice, as it’s been years since I last visited. Not only that, Mum & Dad and my sister Lizzie and her boyfriend Jarett are all coming to meet me there!

P.s. Follow me on Instagram & Twitter for more day-to-day updates of what’s going on in my life!

An African Adventure: Jo’Burg!

Not too long ago I checked my roster and was delighted to see somebody had accepted my swap to get rid of my Casablanca – I was going to Johannesburg! My first new destination in quite a while, and one I was very much looking forward to visiting.

All of the crew who fly to Joburg visit the infamous Lion Park at least once – it’s got to be done! So of course I emailed the ex-crew Noel who organises the tour and arranged a time for him to pick us up. During the flight (which was an overnight flight which meant all of our business class passengers slept the whole way!) I got chatting to the rest of the crew to see who wanted to come with me.

As we landed into Joburg around 6am, we all headed to the hotel for a little nap before the adventure in the afternoon. A few hours later, nicely refreshed, four of us met in the lobby, and luckily it was a beautiful sunny day.

Noel drove us down to the Lion Park, which took around 30 minutes.

Athens Part I

I don’t remember if I posted on here or not that I was going to Athens for a few days with my parents, however if you follow me on Instagram you will have seen lots of pictures from my lovely little getaway in the sunshine!

When Dad told me last month him and Mum were going to visit Greece for a few days, I jumped at the chance and bidded for 5 days off. It was my “top bid” month, so luckily I got the days off and promptly booked my flight.

On the morning of the flight it was all looking rather full and I didn’t think I was going to get on, but luckily someone didn’t show up at the last minute and I made it! I was meant to be meeting mum and dad at Athens airport but as their flight was cancelled they arrived a little later.

Luckily our hotel had a gorgeous rooftop bar so I sat out in the sunshine enjoying an iced coffee.

Once Mum and Dad finally arrived the sun was setting, and we were all feeling rather hungry, so headed out to find something to eat.
