The Dubai Diaries – Favourite Cafés

It’s about time I did a post featuring some of my favourite places in Dubai. Most of my blog posts are about my layovers, but after all I do live in Dubai and spend plenty of days off here so I thought I’d show you a few of my favourite cafés.

This isn’t in any particular order, it’s just a little collection of a few cafés that do great coffee and food, and that I enjoy visiting!

  • Coffee Club

This is actually a chain which originates in Australia, however in the past year it has made it’s way to Dubai. If you’re down on Al Wasl Road, I’d definitely give this one a try. The coffee is absolutely fantastic, I always go for either the flat white or the mocha, both of which I’d recommend.

The food here is also delicious, they do all sorts ranging from cakes and brownies, to breakfast, brunch and lunch.

Something else I have to mention is the wonderful service. All of the waiters are very attentive, without being too much. There’s also outside seating which is great for the winter months, although it can get a little noisy since it’s just along a busy-ish road. View Post

Quick trip to Vienna!

On Monday I decided to go and visit one of my good friends Maria who lives in Vienna. The next time I’m in Vienna will be for my flight to Dubai! (Which, by the way, is in just over 3 weeks!!)
I got the train there which takes just under 4 hours, and she came and met me at the station. Once we got back to her flat we had some dinner, she made salad with some really yummy goats cheese wrapped in bacon, which I am definitely going to be giving a go soon! We decided to go out with another friend of hers and have some “Glühwein” or mulled wine, but once we were out he cancelled so we ended up in a restaurant/club called Medusa. We both ordered a raspberry cocktail which was absolutely delicious! Of course we also had to try some food so we got some chocolate cake with ice cream. We both then agreed that we could never be anorexic, as we just love food way too much!

The next day we went out to do some shopping, and for some reason I didn’t buy anything! Not sure how that is possible as I usually end up spending money on tons of unnecessary things whenever I’m out shopping. We also had to go and get Starbucks (of course!) as there isn’t one where I live; probably a good thing as I would end up spending all my money on overpriced coffee! I tried a toffee nut latte which was pretty tasty. I’ve heard that there is a Costa Coffee in the training college in Dubai, so I’m sure I will have plenty of opportunity to get coffee when I’m over there!
Have to admit, I’m starting to get slightly nervous now!
