December Roster

I can’t believe we’re already on to the last roster of 2017! Where has this year gone?!

Although I actually only got one flight that I bid for in December, I’m not too disappointed with my roster. I managed to get on the swap page and get a London instead of Perth to do my Christmas shopping which is perfect!

I’m finishing up November with my trip to Taipei, and then I’ll be heading to:

  • PER – Perth, Australia – swapped for: LGW – London Gatwick, UK
  • SEP – Safety and Emergency Procedures, our yearly exams!
  • JFK – New York, USA
  • AMM – Amman, Jordan (turnaround)
  • HKG – Hong Kong
  • Leave
  • AMS – Amsterdam, Netherlands

Fortunately I’ll be back to working in first class next month, I have to say I’ve really missed it – business class just isn’t the same! 😀

As I mentioned above I’ve swapped the Perth for a London, so I’ll try and get some Christmas shopping done there, as well as a trip to the supermarket for all of my essentials.

After that I’ve got my yearly exams, which are always great fun…not! 😉

Then it’s off to New York, which is the only flight I got that I bid for, so I’m looking forward to seeing all of the Christmas lights and perhaps even going ice skating in Central Park.

Next up is a quick turnaround to Amman and back, before a flight to Hong Kong, which I didn’t actually bid for but do love. I’ll be getting my fix of dumplings from Din Tai Fung!

I’m lucky enough to have leave for Christmas the second year in a row, and we’ll be heading to Mauritius for some sunshine this year – let’s hope the flights aren’t too full!

My last flight of the year is to Amsterdam – I haven’t been there for quite a while so if anybody has any good wintery suggestions I’ll be more than happy to hear them.

March Roster

As I mentioned in my previous roster post, we all now get our rosters quite a bit earlier, which is lovely as it means you can plan the month ahead a bit more.

Although my bidding seniority is quite low in March, I’m pretty happy and quite pleasantly surprised with my roster for next month!

I’ll be heading off to:

  • SEA – Seattle, USA
  • HAM – Hamburg, Germany
  • HKG – Hong Kong
  • ZRH – Zurich, Switzerland
  • DOH – Doha, Qatar (Turnaround)
  • CKY – DKR – Conakry, Guinea – Dakar, Senegal

I’m super excited to be heading back to Seattle, as I’ve only been once before and I loved the city. You can read about my previous trip here, and see what I got up to. Any tips for anything different to see or do this time would be much appreciated!

I’ve also been to Hamburg a few times before, and my old school friend Georg lives there, so if he’s not working hopefully we’ll be able to catch up.

As for Hong Kong and Zurich, if you read my blog regularly you’ll know that those are two destinations that I love and have flown to fairly often.

I’m also happy that I’ve finally got a new destination – it’ll be my first time visiting both Conakry and Dakar. We actually get 48 hours in Conakry so I should have plenty of time to explore, and then 24 hours in Dakar.

I also have another string of 5 days off, but so far I have no plans and might just take some time to relax in Dubai!

November Roster

So as you may remember from my October roster post, starting from next month (if all goes well) I’ll be working in first class! This means that I got my roster a little earlier than usual.

I’ll be starting off the month with 5 days leave, which I’ll be spending in Barcelona with my best friend Lucy. I’ve been to Barcelona lots of times, but I still love the city so I’m always happy to go back.

Other than that my roster is as follows:

  • Leave
  • EBB (Entebbe, Uganda – a new destination for me!)
  • LHR (London Heathrow, UK)
  • SFO (San Francisco, US)
  • ZRH (Zurich, Switzerland)
  • HKG (Hong Kong)

As you can see I have a new destination that I haven’t visited before, Entebbe! I’ll be researching what there is to do there in 24 hours, so any tips are most welcome.

Another trip to San Fran, which should be fun. Although the flight is veeeery long (I’ve just got back from a trip there as well!) it should be interesting working it in first class rather than business class.

My trip to HKG is one I’m very happy about, as it’s a 48 hour layover! When I saw that we had started 48 and 72 hour layovers there again I just had to bid for it. Now to plan what to do there with my lovely friend Kirsty!

August Roster & Some Exciting News

My roster for August has just been published, so I thought I’d share it with you guys as I usually do!

I don’t have any new destinations next month, however I’m happy as I got a couple of flights that I bid for. Even though I’m actually at the bottom of the bidding seniority, somehow it seemed to work in my favour!

So in August I’ll be flying to:

  • LGW (London Gatwick)
  • HKG (Hong Kong)
  • BKK (Bangkok)
  • ZRH (Zurich)
  • LHR (London Heathrow)
  • HKG (Hong Kong)
  • LHE (Lahore – turnaround)
  • BKK – HKG – BKK (Bangkok, shuttle to Hong Kong and back, then back to Bangkok)

I requested Bangkok so I could get a good massage – yes, that’s what my life has come to, bidding for flights just so I can get a massage! 😉 I also asked for Hong Kong so I could catch up with my lovely friend and ex-flatmate Kirsty, who I haven’t seen in a while. I actually can’t remember what else I bid for, but it’s a pretty standard roster for me with good flying hours (and only one turnaround!).

In other exciting news … I’m moving up to First Class! I had my assessment yesterday and received an email this morning letting me know that I’d passed! Hopefully I won’t have to wait too long for my training and then I’ll be working in first class instead of business 🙂

Hanging out in Hong Kong

I recently got back from a quick trip to Hong Kong. I’d say Hong Kong is up there in my list of top ten favourite destinations, so I am always happy to go back!

The flight time was not ideal, as we left Dubai in the evening, flew overnight and landed into Hong Kong international around 5:30am, so by the time I got to bed it was around 8am. I’d arranged to meet my friend Kirsty later on in the day, so after a few hours sleep she came to meet me at my hotel.

The weather was looking pretty miserable, with foggy clouds covering the sky and a fair bit of drizzle. I was glad I’d left my scarf in my suitcase from my last trip to Oslo!

Our first stop was to get some lunch, and Kirsty remembered a restaurant, “Tai Woo” that she had visited with her dad (who used to work for British Airways) over 10 years ago. Somehow she recognised the manager, Raymond, who was still working there!

We ordered an array of dim sum, fried rice, steamed broccoli, pork and chicken dishes, and soon realised we might have gone a little overboard!
