It’s that time of the month again…. my roster for April has been published!
For the first time in a while I’ve got 2 new destinations that I haven’t flown to before, which I’m quite happy about. I also managed to get quite a few turnarounds thrown in there (although with swaps I’ve managed to reduce that number from 3 to 2!)
Turnarounds are short-ish flights to places within about 4 hours, where we come straight back to Dubai instead of staying in that city.
In the midst of writing this post, I actually received 2 swap requests! I went straight onto our portal and accepted, so my roster has changed a little bit. Here’s the original, and below that I’ll post my updated one.
- KHI – Karachi (turnaround)
- OSL – Oslo (very excited for this one as I haven’t flown here before!)
- JED -Jeddah (turnaround)
- BHX -Birmingham (another new destination for me, although I’ve heard it’s one of the busiest and toughest flights we have!)
- LHR – London Heathrow
- COK – Cochin (turnaround)
- MEL – AKL -Melbourne – Auckland (the same trip I got back in January on my reserve month)
So that was what I was rostered for originally, and with a couple of changes I’ll now be heading to:
- KHI
- OSL
- JED
- HKG (Hong Kong – swapped for my BHX)
- LHR
- BHX (Birmingham – swapped for my COK + MEL-AKL)
- SIN (Singapore – swapped for my COK + MEL-AKL)
As I said, I’m very excited for Oslo. I’ve been to Norway a few times before, as we have family friends who live right up in the north near the Arctic Circle, however it’ll be interesting to see Oslo. I’m hoping it will have warmed up a little by then!
Fingers crossed I’ll be able to visit my lovely ex-flatmate Kirsty who now lives in Hong Kong, if she’s around.
All in all I’m pretty happy with my roster now that I’ve swapped a few flights around. Now for some magical fairies to come and take my turnarounds away! 😉
P.s. Follow me on Instagram & Twitter for more day-to-day updates of where I am in the world! 🙂
Great to see this blog! I have just moved to Dubai and my mum is training to be Cabin Crew for BA so I’m reaaaally hoping that she gets given flights to Dubai Airport a lot! I might tell her to write a blog too after seeing all the places you have been able to visit.
Thanks!

Hi Sarah! Hope you’re enjoying Dubai so far, certainly looks like it from your blog! 🙂 A friend of mine’s mum also works for BA and although she’s only part-time she gets Dubai flights every so often, so fingers crossed your mum will be able to come out often! xx
How fun that you’re going to Oslo! I live on the outbounds of the city and I’ve been reading your blog for such a long time! It’s one of my dreams to work for Emirates one day!
If the weather is nice (which I hope), you should check out the Vigeland Park. It’s worth a visit no matter how the weather is since it’s a sculpture park, but when the weather is nice it’s brilliant!
If you’re a fan of parks Oslo is full of them. I would recommend the Royal Castle park as well.
Another must in Oslo is the Opera House. It’s a very unique and modern opera house, and you may even walk on the rooftop! A 5-10 minute walk away from the Opera House is the harbour – Aker Brygge, full of fantastic restaurants and shops! A must on a sunny day.
I hope you enjoy your stay in Oslo!

Thanks for all your tips Alexander! Unfortunately we didn’t quite have enough time to visit the sculpture park, however I’m hoping to get another Oslo trip next month and then I will definitely try and visit. I loved walking on top of the opera house, such a cool idea! The weather was ok, a little rainy but not too cold at least. 🙂
I fly for SAS and OSL is my base, maybe we’ll bump into each other! 🙂 I hope so! The weather has been on and off lately, hope you get here on a nice day. Some days we get lucky and the weather starts getting really nice already in April. If you need a guide or any tips, let me know!
And I have a question: do you have a bidding system at Emirates? At SAS we can bid specific flights, night stops, leg durations, weekends off etc. It doesn’t always work but it gives us the opportunity to influence our rosters. 🙂
I love your blog by the way! It makes me wanna move down to Dubai 🙂

Aw shame we didn’t manange to bump into each other, Helle! I had a lovely day exploring the city, we managed to see quite a nice amount of stuff I think. The weather wasn’t great but at least it wasn’t too cold, just a bit rainy! We do have a bidding system here, I’m guessing it’s pretty similar to yours. (It doesn’t always work, but I did bid for Oslo and I got it so sometimes it’s good!) Really glad you enjoy reading my blog 🙂
Have a save month. Look forward to your next post

Thanks Lars! I’ll be putting up a post with my pictures from Oslo soon, hope you enjoy it!
I hope you enjoy Oslo! I’ve been there a few times, you should definitely go to the Vigeland park(sculpture park) and to the part of the city where there are all of the museums if you enjoy them of course 🙂 Fram and Kontiki museums are really interesting.
And also, everything is quite expensive so I hope you get a nice budget…

Thanks Andres! Unfortunately since we arrived in the afternoon there wasn’t quite enough time to visit the sculpture park as well, however I thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the city, especially walking on the roof of the opera house! Fingers crossed I will get another Oslo next month and I will be able to visit some more sights! I’ll be popping up some pictures on here soon.
Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to your blog post and photos about Oslo… 🙂 Travel safe.
