Our rosters came quite a few days early this month, which was a pleasantly unexpected surprise!
After having been very lucky and getting quite a few flights that I asked for this month, I should have been on reserve, or “bottom bid” for February. However I was lucky enough to receive a fairly normal roster, with (almost) no nasty surprises! I asked for 5 days off at the end of the month, to try and keep up with my 2017 resolutions of travelling more, and I actually got them, which I’m quite surprised about.
I’ll also be flying off to:
- ZRH – Zurich, Switzerland
- DOH – Doha, Qatar (turnaround)
- DUB – Dublin, Ireland
- ZRH – Zurich, Switzerland
- COK -Cochin, India (turnaround)
- IAH – Houston, USA
As you can see, two trips to Zurich, which always pop up on my roster. No complaints there as it’s a shortish flight, usually not too busy, and a great allowance.
It’s been a couple of years since I went to Dublin so I’m looking forward to that one, any tips or recommendations are much appreciated!
Houston is now back on the 777, and that’ll be my first long-haul flight since working in first class.
Only two turnarounds, a quick Doha (around 40-45 minutes each way!) and a Cochin, not a particularly desired flight as it leaves around 2am and gets back around 12pm the next day. Horrible timings and a long flight, but let’s hope for the best!
As for my 5 days off at the end of the month, a little getaway is in the works with my friend Kirsty, fingers crossed everything works out…stay tuned to see where we end up!

Hi Rachel! do you get a fresh roster every month ? Do you bid for it or does Emirates allocate you your flights to various destinations? Is there a way you can anticipate where you will be in six months from now? In other words if you have a special occasion to attend back in London lets say on September 25th this year, how can you be sure that you will be able to attend that event?

Hi Michael! Yes we get a brand new roster every month – no two rosters are ever really the same. You can bid for specific flights/destinations, on a seniority rotation system, you’re at the “top” every 7 months. So on the months nearest to your top bid you are much more likely to get the destinations that you bid for. You won’t know where you’ll be unless you have leave, and you have 30 days leave a year which you can spread out, so if you have something important to attend that’s the best way to do it! Hope this helps! 🙂
Nice roster! How many working hours you do with that amount of flights? 🙂

Thanks! That was originally 84 Duty Hours but I’ve since been removed from the first Zurich flight so it’s gone down, but I’m hoping they’ll give me another layover instead! 🙂
Seems as though you have quite a great roster this month! I love reading your rosters, I always find them really interesting. 🙂

Glad you enjoy reading my roster posts 🙂 It’s not bad, although for some reason my first Zurich flight has been removed so I have 3 days of reserve! Hopefully I’ll get something nice.
In Dublin, the Bray to Greystones Cliff Walk is great if you’re up for a couple of hours of easy walking with fab views.
