Coffee in Cape Town

I love finding new cafés to try out around the world, and I was lucky enough to try what is supposedly the world’s best coffee, at Truth Coffee Roasting in Cape Town.

Having just flown to Nice with a lovely girl called Jen (and her great camera!) we had plans to take a helicopter ride above the city and see the natural beauty of South Africa from above.

Sadly, when we arrived it was raining, and the forecast for the next day was not looking great either. We decided to change our plans, and head to Truth Coffee Roasting for a leisurely breakfast instead.

Typically, once we were on our way, the clouds cleared and the sun came out, which could have made for a great helicopter ride! Sadly it was already too late to re-book, so I’ll just have to come back. We spotted Table Mountain briefly from the car along the way.

The café is quite eccentric inside – set up in a steampunk style, with low lighting to set the mood.

The waiters are all dressed up to fit in, with some very cool outfits! You’ll find lots of metal and wood, and fun decorations in the café.

We both ordered a delicious flat white – after all, they are famous for coffee. Breakfast options are varied and plenty, I went for a homemade granola with creamy yoghurt and grapefruit, while Jen chose a classic Eggs Benedict.

After breakfast, we jumped in an Uber down to the Waterfront for a stroll, and a little browse of the shops.

We passed by the ferris wheel, which us cabin crew can ride free of charge by showing an airline ID, although declined this time in favour of some shopping… girls will be girls!

There was just time to pick up a few groceries before heading back to the hotel in preparation for the flight home. A delightful layover, although far too short, in one of my favourite cities. Thanks Cape Town!

I love Cape Town, it’s one of my favourite places. I wish we had a longer layover there. I was also happy for you guys that it rained, I can’t imagine living with the drought for so long! x
