After my top bid in October, I wasn’t too surprised when I didn’t get any of my bids for November. Next month I’ll be heading off to:
- EBB – Entebbe, Uganda
- KUL – Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
- BP – Business Promotions
- DEL – Dehli, India (turnaround)
- IAH – Houston, USA
- DAR – Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania
First up a trip to Entebbe! I’ve been here once before, in fact it was my very first flight working in first class. Any tips for what to do would be much appreciated! Last time we took a little boat out on the lake and visited the local market to buy some fruits and veggies.
Straight after that is a flight to Kuala Lumpur. I seem to remember flying here all the time when I worked in economy, but I haven’t visited for ages, so it’ll be interesting to see what I get up to this time!
After that I have a 10 day business promotion event, I don’t know what it is yet so stay tuned to find out!
Following on from that is a turnaround to Dehli, but I’m hoping I might be able to swap that and extend my days off. Let’s see!
Next is a flight to Houston, which I’ll be honest, is not my favourite of all the US destinations we fly to. Maybe a few of the crew will be up for doing something fun though, as I don’t want to spend 48 hours shopping, which is what most of the crew tend to do! Maybe there’s a fun road trip I could take?!
The last flight of the month is Dar Es Salaam, which I’ve only visited once before, so it should be fun to go back.
As always, feel free to follow along on my Instagram, as I post much more frequent updates there!
P.s. Follow me on Instagram, Facebook & Twitter for more day-to-day updates of where I am in the world! 🙂
Hey Rachel, I have just finished reading your blog from start to finish – Love it! I have always wanted to be Cabin Crew however at the ripe old age of 39 I think that ship has sailed! Anyway – when you went to Barcelona and stayed in an AirBnB can you remember where it was/what it was called?! Sorry for random post!

Wow, I’m impressed, thank you! Haha you’re definitely not too old to be cabin crew, I say go for it! Sorry, my best friend booked it so I can’t get the details! x
Congratulations on making the Business Promotions team! Iām a long time reader (since 2014!! Love it! I learn so much about the world and travel through you!) and remember ages ago you saying you applied to be a part of the team. Is this the first event you have been rostered for?

Thanks so much Elizabeth! Yes I applied ages ago but then didn’t get used (not sure why haha!) so this was my first event! š
Rachel,
Houston may not be the crew’s favourite destination. But, it is an oil-rich city and our ME3 carriers take great care of flying the oil executives across the globe. Some of your first class passengers could be VIPs. Make them happy. C’mon Rachel,You know, the crew always finds a way to have a good time, either shopping, partying or simply watching some Netflix. What happens during the layover stays there. Enjoy

I used to live in Houston! I miss the food most. Ask your hotel for a good barbecue or Tex-Mex. If you want to road trip you can see alligators at Brazos Bend State Park or see the Houston Space Center. I also miss the museums, like Bayou Bend and the Menil. Houston’s a good place for free or cheap art/music, you can try looking up the dates you’ll be there on https://www.downtownhouston.org/calendar/ I hope you can find some crew who wants to do something other than shopping!

Ooh thanks so much for the recommendations! I’ll definitely try some Tex-Mex, I tried barbecue last time I was in Dallas and it was great. I’ve also been to the Space Centre which was amazing but probably don’t need to go again haha! I will check out the link you sent and see if there’s anything on while I’m there! š
