New York Is Always A Good Idea

It feels like I only just blogged about New York, and yet here I found myself once again. This time around my friends were on holiday so I decided to take it easy on this layover and just do whatever I felt up to after the 14 hour flight!

Last time I walked over 15km around the city, so I gave my feet a bit more of a break! Our crew hotel is just around the corner from Times Square, so after a good freshen up one of the other girls from first class and I headed out to get a bit of sun, a drink and a bite to eat.

We found a rooftop bar just a short walk away, and it was buzzing with the after-work crowd.

Since we weren’t particularly taken by any of the bar snacks on offer, we decided to call it a day after one aperol spritz, and walked back through Times Square to a nearby spot for tacos.

And some tacos they were! The place is literally called “Los Tacos No 1” and they were definitely some of the best I’ve ever tried! It’s standing room only, so we were in and out pretty quickly after finishing our delicious tacos.

It was now some point in the middle of the night Dubai time, so we headed back to the hotel to get some rest, and decided to meet again the next morning for a workout class.

Luckily ClassPass works around the world, so we were able to find a spin class not too far away, and signed up for an 8am class. The thing with US flights is that you always wake up early, as your body is on Dubai time – in this case 8 hours ahead!

The spin class was a great start to the morning, and we strolled through New York and grabbed a coffee afterwards.

After heading back to the hotel for a shower, we split up and both went to do a bit of shopping before meeting for a quick lunch later on.

I managed to get a couple of hours sleep before the flight back home to Dubai. As always it was a pleasure to be in New York!

    Rachel,
Such nice pics of NYC. You can’t beat staying closer to Time Square. Do you get to stay there even during New year’s Eve too? That will be once in a lifetime experience. Looking forward to your next blog. x

Thanks so much Diana! Yep, we stay there all year round though I’ve never done the flight on NYE. It’s apparently pretty crazy though, as the whole city is at a standstill so the crew bus gets dropped off miles from the hotel and the crew have to walk for quite a while in the freezing cold, dragging suitcases! Still wouldn’t say no though 🙂
