June Roster

It’s time for another roster post over here on The Dubai Diaries! It feels like I live my life waiting for the roster each month, and then when I get it, thinking about what to bid for for next month’s roster!

In June I’ll be visiting a few old favourites, here’s my line-up for the upcoming month:

  • DFW – Dallas Fort Worth, USA
  • STN – London Stansted, UK
  • PRG – Prague, Czech Republic
  • Leave
  • HKG – Hong Kong
  • FCO – Rome, Italy

Back to Dallas – it’s only been a few months since my last two visits to Texas, but I’ll be heading back again. Since I went to a rodeo in Fort Worth last time, I’m not sure what I’ll do here.

Then is another flight to Stansted to see my family, and the sweetest little kittens that are now living with my parents!

After that I have Prague, which I don’t think I’ve visited since last summer. Originally I was rostered Lisbon, which I do love (and am a little bit sad about getting rid of!) but I swapped it, so that I’ll hopefully be able to travel home on an earlier flight for mum’s birthday.

Next up is a week of leave, as mentioned I’ll try and fly home for a bit – let’s hope the flights are not too full!

Straight after my leave I have a flight to Hong Kong. you guys will know that HKG is one of my favourite destinations. Funnily enough I didn’t actually bid for it this time around, and I got two! Sadly my friend Kirsty who lives there will be back in the UK this time.

My last flight of the month is to Rome, a place I haven’t visited for quite a while! This was originally another Hong Kong, but I decided to swap it as I won’t be able to see Kirsty anyway, and I love Europe in summer.

And just like that, that brings us to the end of June! Hope you enjoyed seeing where I’ll be flying 🙂

P.s. Follow me on InstagramFacebook & Twitter for more day-to-day updates of where I am in the world! 🙂

Chocolate Tasting in Bruges, Belgium

Last month I was lucky enough to have a 2 day layover in Brussels, Belgium. Although it wasn’t my first time visiting, I was happy to be going back and doing some more exploring.

I had already decided that on the full day I would go to Bruges, and luckily 5 of the other crew were also up for the trip!

It’s an easy train journey from Brussels main station, and after an hour we arrived in Bruges (or Brugge, depending on whether you speak French or Dutch!).

From the train station we wandered into town, strolling through pretty tree-lined streets admiring the buildings.

Exploring the capital – Washington D.C.

My first time visiting Washington, and I was ready to explore! After a 14 hour night flight from Dubai we touched down and made our way to the hotel.

By this time it was already 11am, so I wanted to get out and have as much of the day as possible, as the wake up call was early the next morning.

Our hotel is by the airport, so it was around a 30 minute drive into the city, where we split up to explore. One of the guys and I from the flight decided to check out the main monuments of Washington D.C.

Hiking in Hong Kong

I was finally rostered 2 trips back to one of my favourite cities in the world – Hong Kong! My friend Kirsty has just given birth to her second baby, a beautiful daughter named Imogen, and I was so excited to meet her and catch up with Kirsty.

On my first trip out we were still staying in Causeway Bay, so I got the ferry over to Discovery Bay for some drinks and nibbles at her flat, before dinner in a nice restaurant and a good catch up there.

The second time around, our hotel had sadly closed down which meant a new location…the airport. I am so disappointed by this as we really had the most amazing location right in the heart of Hong Kong, but I guess it just means I’ll have to explore new areas!

I met Kirsty around lunchtime at the airport, as she was dropping her parents off to fly back to England after they’d been out to visit for a while. We got straight into a taxi to take us to Mui Wo, where we would start our hike.

First things first, cuddles with baby Imogen!

A Flying Visit To Edinburgh, Scotland

It’s been many years since I’ve visited Scotland. Although Emirates has been flying to Glasgow since before I joined, I have never been rostered the flight, so the last time I went must have been as a child on a family holiday!

So you can imagine how pleased I was when I managed to swap my London Heathrow flight for a trip to Edinburgh! It was also a slightly longer layover than usual which was great.

Unfortunately the weather forecast for our arrival was not looking great, and we were greeted with dark, cloudy skies and pouring rain.

Nevertheless, since it was my first time here, I wanted to make the most of my layover and see as much of the city as I could.
