So I know we’re already almost a week in to November, but I realised I haven’t put my roster up here!
I’m now officially on my second month of working in business class and I almost feel like I know what I’m doing! 😉
So here goes:
- New York (which I’ve just done a blog post about!)
- Singapore
- London Gatwick
- Munich
- Frankfurt (I was originally rostered Beijing but somebody sent me a swap for this!)
- Paris
All of these flights are on the A380, and I’ve also got quite a few days off in a row which is lovely!
As always feel free to leave me any comments and suggestions for future blog posts 🙂
P.s. Follow me on Instagram & Twitter @rachelwwilson for more day-to-day updates of what’s happening in my life!
Hi! Love how you take time to answer questions. Got a question for you too…lol. When sending photographs in the application full length do u need to be smiling…teeth showing i mean. Thanks again for blog. Really love it!
Author
Hi! I would smile although I don’t think it matters if you’re showing your teeth or not! They just want to see your smile haha!
Hi Rachel. I have been reading your blog religiously since I applied to Emirates airline. I got invited to a recruitment workshop this weekend. I am pretty confident in my customer service background and I believe that I have what it takes to excel at this job. My only worry is that I am not built like a model. I have a fairly normal figure and my weight it proportionate to my height (Check with my doctor). What I would like to know is, does the airline only recruit skinny girls or do fuller figured women also have a shot?
BTW you are doing an incredible job with this blog. Its like a window into your world. Keep it up..
Author
Hi! Thanks for reading 🙂 Don’t worry, they recruit people of all sizes, I have far from a model figure 🙂 I think they just check your BMI and I’m sure that’ll be fine! Good luck for the recruitment day!
Thank you 🙂
Hello, Rachel! I’m trying Emirates and I wanted to know about your days off. Can you travel when you’re off or can you only travel when you’re really on vacation? Is it commom to have a few days off in a row? If so, how many days do you usually have? Thank you so much,
Author
Hi! You can travel out of the country on your days off after probation (the first 6 months) and during probation only when you have leave. I don’t get days off in a row every month, but next week I have nearly 5 in a row 🙂 Maximum is 6 I think. (Not including leave, which can be up to 15 days, and then also some days off either side!) Thanks for reading 🙂
Hey Rachel!
I was wondering here, when the company gives you the allowance for the country you’re at, do they give it to you as part of your pay (at the end of the month, or however it works) or do they give it to you before you go? I’m asking bc most companies I know (not airlines, though) they give out meal allowances, but they ask the employee to bring in their receipts, in order for them to refund only what they actually spent on the meal. Thanks already, good luck with your travels! xx

Hi! They actually give us cash when we check in at the hotel, so we (almost) always get the local currency! Very handy as it means you don’t have to withdraw any cash! (Unless you’re me and spend all your money all the time :D) Thanks for reading 🙂
Goodmorning, Rachel! I know it’s off topic, but I have a beauty related question, if you don’t mind! Do trainers advice some foundations (like mineral or silicon free) for oily or acne prone skin? I’m not used to wear foundation as it’s a problem for my skin!
Thanks for your time and have a nice day!
By the way, your November roster look soooo good ;))
Author
Hi! Yep, we had a whole day of image and uniform training (although to be very honest I found it a little bit ridiculous, teaching you how to apply make-up, tie your hair up etc!) and they do recommend certain foundations for different skin types. I’m sure wearing a light BB cream instead of heavy foundation wouldn’t be a problem though! Thanks for reading 🙂
Hey there! with regards to the above message, can you study as soon as probation ends and will emirates cover the costs of your degree? Thank you. P.S. you’re living my dream 🙂
Author
Just seen this comment as well, no they definitely won’t pay! 🙁 You could study whenever as long as it doesn’t affect your flying 🙂
I absolutely adore your blog Rachel!!!! I wanted to know about the studying you can do as well. On the Emirates website it says pre-approved courses. Please give me a list of courses cabin crew can pursue & at what institution. What happens when you have an exam and a flight on the same day? Never stop writing please!!!!! xxx
Author
Thanks for reading! Hmm not really sure, any courses you do you would have to pay for (I know some crew do online studying from their universities back home!) and the company doesn’t really care if you have an exam, you’d have to try and swap your flight haha! 🙂
Hey Rachel,
I somehow came across your blog online and I am glad I did! You look like you’re having so much fun.
I stay in Dubai but am not crew, however reading this and hearing the awesome adventure you are having certainly makes me envious of crew!
Keep it up and good luck!
Scott

Hi! Glad you liked reading! I am definitely having the adventure of a lifetime and plan on staying for a while and making the most of it! 🙂
Hi Rachel,
I was just curious if you will receive a new contract when you finish your 3 years or not?
Author
Hi! Yep, our contract is renewed automatically 🙂
And these are the layovers, right? You don’t have also some turn around or how is it called:D?! If you do, then that means that you work only 6 days (6 flights) in the month?
And I also have a question… How big is your apartment? Do you like it? Do you also have a balcony?
P.S. you can still make a post about living in Dubai&what to do there, places you like best! 🙂
I hope you’re doing well,
Lucy .
🙂
I would also love to see tour of her accomodation and facilities that are provided in it!
Author
Sorry, won’t be doing an apartment tour, bit too personal 🙂
Author
Yep, all layovers 🙂 I guess that’s one good thing about being mostly on the A380, there aren’t really any turnarounds! 😀
My apartment is fairly big, 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms (1 of those is an ensuite), unfortunately I don’t have a balcony 🙁 I’ll definitely do a post about things to do in Dubai! Thanks for reading 🙂
Rachel you can also be a “first class cabin crew” in the future?:)
Author
I hope so, that’s my next goal after business class 🙂
Hmmm, suggestions eh? How about your top 5 / top 10 layovers? Have you been to all the layover destinations yet or are there still places you haven’t been to? And thanks for blogging so often! 🙂
Author
That post is already in the making, although it’s going to be hard to choose only 5! There’s still so many places I haven’t been to, and now I’m in business class I fly mostly on the A380 (which means less variety of destinations! 🙁 ) Thanks for reading 🙂
I’m looking forward to your top 10! Why are you now flying so much on the A380? Surely they need business class crew on the 777 as well? And… I mentioned before that I got the successful on hold mail, but this week I received the GC as well! Another huge thanks for your blogs about the interview process, it really helped alot! DOJ: 2 jan 🙂
Author
They do need crew on the 777 as well, but only 3 business class crew per flight as opposed to 8 on the A380! Congrats on getting the job!! See you in the skies 🙂
What an awesome roster! 🙂
