February Roster

I’m currently on leave, and for once I’ve stayed in Dubai! 😉

My sister Lizzie and her boyfriend Jarett are here staying with me for a while; they’ve been living in the US and flew over from Dallas. So this means full tourist mode is on!

A couple of days ago I got my roster for February, so here it is, in case anyone is interested! 🙂

  • Houston (technically this is on my Jan roster but I land back into DXB in Feb!)
  • Zurich
  • Sydney – Auckland – Sydney
  • Zurich
  • Brisbane – Auckland – Brisbane

So as you can see they’ve given me two trips to Zurich (as obviously I haven’t been there enough already, haha!) and two multi sector trips. I haven’t done a multi sector trip for aaaaages (other than my Rio – Buenos Aires trip back in September) and I can’t say I’m looking forward to them!

They’re very tiring and you get very jet lagged in Australia, but I’ll try and make the most of them and have a good time anyway! At least for once I’ll have a new destination, as I’ve never been to Brisbane before 🙂

Just a short post today as I’ve got guests – but there’ll be one up soon with some pictures from my trip to Barcelona!

P.s. Follow me on Instagram & Twitter @rachelwwilson for more day to day updates on my life!

    Hi Rachel,
I REALLY REALLY like your blog and during my school holidays I was spending hours reading your previous posts. But now that school has started again, I hardly have time to read your blog and I’m just missing this magical adventure you are having!! Hopefully you are posting some of your photos on Instagram and let me tell you that they’re absolutely amazing! I dream of becoming a flight attendant for Emirates and wear this awesome EK crew uniform which has the power beatifying the one wearing it!!
    Greetings from Mauritius 🙂

Hey, may I ask how many days off are assigned each month? Are they in a row or just put in between to ensure you get enough rest time. How many off days can you get in a row per month as maximum?

    Thanks!

P.S. Love your blog! You just look amazing.

I think there’s a minimum of 7 days off per month but I’m not entirely sure. They’re usually in between flights. You can have up to 6 days in a row (not including leave!). Thanks for reading 🙂

    Hi 🙂
You have such a good job:) I’m planning to work at Emirates too. My mother language is not english, but my english is good. I’m just curious if you know some people working with you who aren’t from an english speaking country. And do you think that I have any chance?
    Thank you 🙂

Hi 🙂 Yes of course you have a chance. We have nearly 20,000 crew and they are from all over the world, something like 120 nationalities! Good luck!

    Hello!

Again, love your blog! You are sooo cute , would love to meet u in person. Anyway, I am in canada and am thinking of applying to be a FA with emirates when I reach 19.

I was wondering if it is true that your salary gets non taxable? So u keep every penny of it. Say that is true. It gets deposited in your bank account. So when I go back to canada, how do I transfer that money out to use in my hometown in canada and will the canada customs tax me on what I made in dubai??? This is one important question my parents want me to ask before I apply?

Also can my parents or siblings stay with me in dubai apartment. There’s only one bed so can they sleep on the couch? Is that allowed??

Also how often do you fly to Vancouver canada?

How many days off do you get off work and just get to chill in dubai?

How many free tickets do you get for yourself or family members?? And is there an expiry date on using them or can they be accumulated??

Do you get discounts for hotels around the world? If so how much?

Do you get medical or any other benefit packages???

Sorry for all the questions. Although I am wanting to apply for the sake of getting to explore the world while using my customer service expertise in the air my parents are very curious about the benefits and perks of this job.

I would appreciate it if you can reply as much as you can. I have read almost all your posts and comments lol but would love the answers in one section. Lol

Thank you times a million!!!!! Xo

Thanks for reading! You’ll have to wait til you’re 21 to apply to any Middle Eastern airline! How you transfer your money back to Canada is up to you. You could do online banking or take it home with you in cash when you go home. I have no idea if it would be taxed as I’m not familiar with the tax system in Canada. Unfortunately my airline doesn’t fly to Vancouver, we fly to Toronto 3 times a week though.
You can have up to 2 visitors at a time in your apartment, and as long as your flatmates are ok with it I’m sure they could sleep on the couch! How many days I get off varies each month, you can check out my post each month with my roster to get a rough estimate!
Some hotels give crew discount (not just for my airline) which we can use. We get free medical and dental care up to a certain limit each year although I’m not sure how much that is.
Hope this answers some of your questions!

Make sure you check out South Bank markets whilst in Brisbane!
Just a quick question, what accent do you have?

    • February 4, 2015 / 9:24 pm

Thanks for the tip! 🙂 I have a standard English accent.

I absolutely love your blog! I have been reading it for quite a while now. I really want to be apart of Emirates cabin crew. 🙂 so I have a question for you! I turn 21 at the beginning of July. Would it be okay if I applied a couple months before? Thanks in advance!

    • February 4, 2015 / 9:22 pm

Hi, thanks for reading 🙂 Yeah I think up to 3 months before shouldn’t be a problem; I applied 3 weeks before my 21st birthday and got the call while I was still 20 🙂 Good luck!
