Brunch & Beach in Melbourne

I had a great layover in Melbourne, Australia not so long ago. My cousin Sarah, who lives there, was able to get a day off work, so we could spend the day together exploring!

Having visited Melbourne quite a few times now, I’ve seen a fair bit of the city, so Sarah decided to take me out to the beach.

Not before a hearty brunch of course, what Melbourne does best!

A whirlwind tour through the Côte D’Azur – Nice, Eze & Monaco

It was my second time visiting Nice, France, and I was determined to make the most of it. Last time, 5 years ago, I spent my layover here exploring the pretty old town and walking along the beachfront promenade.

This time, along with 6 others, we hired a tour guide and visited some of the most stunning spots along the Côte D’Azur.

Luckily for us our tour guide Ben usually takes crew out, so he was waiting for us in the hotel and we soon set out to explore. He picked us up and our first stop was the beautiful Old Town, where along he gave us a detailed history of Nice, and some free time to explore.

Snapshots of Sydney: Harbour Bridge, Opera House & Maroubra to Bondi Coastal Walk

It’s been quite a while since I’ve spent time sightseeing in Sydney, and this trip I had two layovers there, and was determined to make the most of them!

It’s a 14 hour flight from Dubai to Sydney, and now that one crew has been removed from our long haul flights in first class, we were kept on our toes, to say the least! I was certainly ready for my bed once we checked in to our hotel in the morning, but made sure to set an alarm to at least spend some of the day awake.

First things first, a walk to see the Harbour Bridge and Opera House!

A Holiday in Valencia, Spain

With a few days of leave in June and no plans, Joe and I made a last minute decision to visit my sister Lizzie and her boyfriend Jarett in Valencia, Spain, where they’ve been living for just under the past year. And what a great decision it was!

I didn’t really know much at all about Valencia, so left it up to Lizzie to plan whatever she fancied with us. She works from home, so was able to fit her work in around us and still manage to get out and about a lot, which was great.

We flew in to Madrid, and caught a quick flight across to Valencia with Iberia on standby (which was half the price of the train ticket!) and Lizzie came to meet us in the early evening.

It was a beautiful summer’s evening, and we walked back to her flat, admiring the pretty buildings and greenery along the way.

Swinging by the Seychelles

I was so happy to finally be rostered a flight to the Seychelles, and despite only having less than 17 hours there, I was determined to make the most of my layover!

The flight from Dubai is just over 4 hours, so it’s nice and easy, although the aircraft we were on didn’t have a first class so I was working in economy this time.

However, I couldn’t complain as it meant I got a chance to be down the back of the aircraft and see the tail up close, which doesn’t happen too often!

I was also sitting by the window, and had some spectacular views of the island on approach.
