It had been a while since I’d visited Warsaw, and I was looking forward to my second ever trip there. (Especially as it was -12 degrees last time!)
The flight is nice and short from Dubai at around 5 hours, and we landed around midday ready to explore.
Some of the crew were going home and some had plans to watch the world cup, so I met up with one of the guys who had some friends there who would show us around.
We strolled into the city, enjoying the sunshine and fresh air.
With a few days of leave in June and no plans, Joe and I made a last minute decision to visit my sister Lizzie and her boyfriend Jarett in Valencia, Spain, where they’ve been living for just under the past year. And what a great decision it was!
I didn’t really know much at all about Valencia, so left it up to Lizzie to plan whatever she fancied with us. She works from home, so was able to fit her work in around us and still manage to get out and about a lot, which was great.
We flew in to Madrid, and caught a quick flight across to Valencia with Iberia on standby (which was half the price of the train ticket!) and Lizzie came to meet us in the early evening.
It was a beautiful summer’s evening, and we walked back to her flat, admiring the pretty buildings and greenery along the way.
First of all, apologies that it’s been a bit quiet over here on The Dubai Diaries… I’ve been busing flying, out enjoying my layovers, and having a lovely time on holiday in Valencia!
A few weeks ago I jetted off to Madrid, and as my sister Lizzie lives in Valencia, she decided to come and stay for the layover.
Sadly our crew hotel has changed and is no longer in the city, so after a bit of a bus ride we arrived in the city, ready to explore.
It had been a while since I’d visited Madrid, so the two of us decided to just have a wander round the city and explore whatever we liked the look of.
I was so happy to finally be rostered a flight to the Seychelles, and despite only having less than 17 hours there, I was determined to make the most of my layover!
The flight from Dubai is just over 4 hours, so it’s nice and easy, although the aircraft we were on didn’t have a first class so I was working in economy this time.
However, I couldn’t complain as it meant I got a chance to be down the back of the aircraft and see the tail up close, which doesn’t happen too often!
I was also sitting by the window, and had some spectacular views of the island on approach.
Last month my best friend Lucy came to stay for a little getaway in the sunshine, and we made sure to make the most of her time here in Dubai.
Having already visited before, there were plenty of things she’d done already, but still many more to tick off the list!
From Dubai it’s just under a 2 hour drive to Hatta, the mountainous region in the Hajar Mountains. If you’re driving make sure to avoid the route that takes you via Oman – otherwise you’ll accidentally end up at the border like we did and add an extra hour onto your journey, oops!
Once you arrive you can easily follow the signs to Hatta Kayak, which takes place in the dam.
